I got an error saying my payment didn't go through, but I was still charged?

When making a donation or placing an order, it's possible that our payment processor, Stripe, is unable to charge your card. This can happen due to various reasons, such as:

  • Incorrect CVC code
  • Insufficient funds
  • Incorrect zip code
  • Bank rejection
  • Another processing error

It says you weren't able to charge my card, but I looked at my statement and still see a charge. What do I do?

If you were shown an error screen like below, what you are most likely seeing on your statement is an "authorization". Authorizations are when a payment processor attempts to charge your card, but wasn't able to due to various reasons. Authorizations typically fall off your statement within a few hours and is not considered a "charge". We recommend waiting a day or so and then seeing if it's fallen off your statement. If it hasn't, feel free to email support@everloved.com and provide us with the following information:

  • The email address you used to make the transaction
  • The last 4 digits of the card
  • The name on the card
  • The date of the purchaseWe'll be able to take a look!

In the event you place an order or make a donation and we're unable to charge your card, we'll most often notify you immediately that we weren't able to charge your card. We will also provide a reason for why we weren't able to charge your card. Here's an example of what you'll see:
